Claudio Silva with roots in Dominican Republic and Brazil it’s considered to be a talented and versatile drummer. Silva began studying and playing music at an early age, starting with violin at age 5 and drum lessons at age 7 it is clear to why Claudio Silva has such a passion and affinity for music performance.
Having fervently studied and been inspired by everyone from Baby Dodds and Jo Jones, to Max Roach and Greg Hutchinson, to Elvin Jones and Brian Blade (and virtually everyone in between). Silva has worked tirelessly at being a well-rounded musician, playing with many groups around the greater northeast, studying to prepare for a profession in the music industry as a performer, writer, and as an educator.
Silva has been recognized and awarded by the Young Arts Foundation, Downbeat Jazz Magazine, and selected to be in the Herbie Hancock Institute National Peer-to-Peer Jazz.
During the past four years at Johns Hopkins University Peabody Institute studying jazz with his mentors Sean Jones, and Warren Wolf who have recognized Silva’s hard work by inviting him to perform in their personal bands around the country. Silva has also played in bands with Russell Hall, Miki Yamanaka, Michela Lerman, Emmet Cohen, Brinae Ali, Marcus Strickland, Jason Marsalis and more! Now, Claudio can be seen traveling between New York City, Baltimore, and Miami to create with other artists. Be on the look out for future releases!!
